Statement of Need/Program Overview

The recent explosion of the #MeToo movement has heightened awareness regarding sexual harassment. The purpose of this educational activity is to provide essential information to physicians and physician practices regarding risks arising from sexual harassment in the workplace. The program explains what behaviors may be viewed as sexual harassment, the types of claims that may arise from sexual harassment, how to encourage employees to report problems to management, and how to create a culture in which all employees actively model appropriate behaviors. 

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity is Medical Mutual's provider physician group and related healthcare professionals

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  1. Identify specific behaviors that could be considered sexual harassment.
  2. Outline the potential legal risks that exist if sexual harassment is allowed to occur in the workplace.
  3. Explain how to create a workplace culture where employees are empowered to speak up about inappropriate comments or behavior.
  4. Cite specific steps to take if an employee complains about sexual harassment in the workplace.

Instructions to Receive CME Credit

In order to successfully complete the activity, participants must score 70% on the post test at the end of the activity and complete the course evaluations. Each participant has a maximum of three attempts to score a 70%. Successful completion is supported by a 70% pass rate at the end of the course, proving competency on the content of the activity.
